Azerbaijan has been reporting an increase in coronavirus infection cases over the past few days. For example, over the past day, 1,200 people tested positive for COVID-19. As the infection cases increase, the death toll is up as well.

Given that there is a Delta strain in the country, the population must be more vigilant. Because in neighboring Georgia, the new strain is rapidly spreading and causing multiple deaths.

Infectious disease doctor Laman Galimova told Report that the increase in the number of infections in the country was due to festivities, the opening of the beach season, and the abolition of the use of masks in the open air.

"Some people are still afraid of vaccination. But I urge our citizens to be vaccinated. Because the only way to overcome the coronavirus pandemic is through vaccination. So, if the infection increases at this rate, it will burden the health system. Therefore, it is necessary to be vaccinated for the health of yourself and your relatives."

According to her, the presence of the Delta strain in the country also contributes to the increase in infection: "Precautions against infection must be observed. So it is advisable to wear a mask, keep a social distance, follow the rules of hygiene, stay away from public places. Given the upcoming autumn season and the rise of other infectious diseases, it is necessary to pay attention to vitamin foods to strengthen the immune system. Vitamin D intake should not be interrupted. It is recommended to follow the rules as much as possible to avoid lockdown. The way to get rid of the pandemic is to support each other. "

There are currently 9,118 active coronavirus patients in the country. To date, 348,074 people have been infected with COVID-19 in Azerbaijan, and 333,913 have recovered. The total number of deaths from the disease is 5,043. So far, 5,251,051 doses have been administered to citizens.

It should be noted that according to the relevant decision of the Task Force under the Cabinet of Ministers, at least 80 percent of employees of government agencies must receive their first dose of coronavirus vaccine from September 1 and second dose from October 1.

All students over the age of 18 will also be required to have a COVID-19 passport. In addition, persons over 18 may use the services provided indoors only if they have a COVID-19 passport.
