The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) ruled Thursday that in democratic societies, children must be vaccinated against certain diseases.

According to the Turkish NTV channel, the ruling came after two families from the Czech Republic appealed to the ECHR.

The ECHR has announced the ruling on the two Czech families who did not vaccinate their children and were held responsible for that.

According to the information, the two families were brought to account for opposing the compulsory vaccination of their children in 2013 and 2014. They appealed to the ECHR in this regard.

According to the ECHR's ruling, if children in the Czech Republic are not vaccinated against nine diseases without a valid reason, their parents can be fined, and unvaccinated children cannot go to kindergarten.

The court ruled that vaccination of children against certain diseases is necessary in democratic societies.

ECHR Special Representative Nicolas Hervieu said the decision confirmed the possibility of compulsory vaccination against the COVID-19 pandemic under certain conditions.
