Azerbaijan continues the vaccination process in stages throughout the country under the "Strategy of Vaccination against COVID-19 for 2021-2022", the Ministry of Health, the State Agency for Compulsory Medical Insurance, and the Management Union of Medical Territorial Units said in a joint statement.

From May 3, people aged 60 and older will be able to use the vaccine Vaxzevria (manufactured by AstraZeneca), produced by the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. It will be applied in six regions - Lankaran, Sheki, Ganja, Mingachevir, Absheron, and Sumgayit. Special rooms will be allocated in medical institutions for the application of this drug.

The 84,000 doses of the Vaxevria vaccine brought to Azerbaijan within the COVAX platform offer more alternative to people, ensuring their access to various vaccines.

The vaccine Vaxzevria, developed by the Anglo-Swedish company AstraZeneca, has been approved by the World Health Organization.
