Versiya: Black day in history - 30 years after Khojaly tragedy

Russia's Versiya website has published an article on the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.

Report says that the article speaks about the causes of the Khojaly tragedy, provides proofs about the genocide and its consequences. The report adds that there are many examples of crimes against humanity in world history:

"The names of Volyn, Babi Yar, and Khatyn are familiar to almost everyone as examples of crimes against humanity. Along with them, on the night of February 25-26, 1992, during the invasion of the town by the Armenian military, hundreds of civilians were killed by people living in the neighborhood for years. In 2022, the 30th anniversary of the Khojaly massacre will be completed.

The publication urges that it is very important that not only Azerbaijan but the whole world know and remember the Khojaly events:

"It is also necessary for people to understand the consequences of intolerance and extreme nationalism. Memory is the best tool in the fight against xenophobia, and it can only prevent such bloody tragedies in the future.

Monuments to the victims of the Khojaly tragedy were erected in many cities of Azerbaijan: "A memorial was erected in Hague in 2008, as well as in Berlin, Sarajevo, Mexico and beyond. Ankara even has a whole memorial complex - the Khojaly Monument and the Khojaly Museum, and a Qarabag park, dedicated to those events, was opened in the Turkish city of Aydin. The tragedy is also reflected in the literature: Thomas de Waal (Black Garden) and Yuri Romanov (I film war) talked about it in their books."
