I assess the current situation in the region very positively, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza told reporters, Report informs.
He noted that the issue of border demarcation may take some time.
Bryza also commented on the withdrawal of Russian peacekeepers from Karabakh and said that he was shocked by this incident:
"The Armenians wanted the Russian peacekeepers to stay here permanently, because they thought that Russia would always protect them. However, according to the tripartite agreement, their activity was limited and they are now leaving. The situation changed after Pashinyan's decision to freeze Armenia's activity in the CSTO and the opinion that Armenia should join the EU.
The ambassador also commented on the election to be held in the US in November. He noted that if Donald Trump comes to power, there will be another period of madness in both foreign and domestic policy of the US.
