UN expert thanks Azerbaijan for fight against colonialism

UN International advisor on global governance Carlyle Corbin thanked Azerbaijan for the fight against colonialism in his speech at the “Decolonization: Awakening of the Renaissance” international conference organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) held in Istanbul on Saturday, Report informs.

He emphasized that the initial stage of colonialism began in European countries and continued in various regions of the world with the restriction of freedoms: "Some countries are still subjected to these pressures. Although there have been movements towards the elimination of colonialism in some societies, these countries have remained far from freedom. Currently, there are 17 colonized islands in the world that are managed far from the principles of the UN, and such events organized by Azerbaijan are very important for the people living there."
