TURKSOY chief slams Armenia's policy of occupation, actions towards historical and cultural heritage as inhumane

Destruction of cultural heritage and usurpation of the land of another country is an inhuman attitude, Sultan Rayev, Secretary General of the International Turkic Cultural Organization (TURKSOY), said in a statement to Report's Ankara bureau.

He assessed the damage caused by Armenia to the fascinating nature, geography and historical-cultural monuments in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur as a defeat of the occupying state.

The secretary general emphasized that this attitude of Armenians towards the cultural heritage is disrespectful to the culture of another nation: "For 30 years, they usurped and enslaved Karabakh, and then, on their way out, destroyed everything and turned it into ruins. This is a terrible act in the modern world we live in. I think that they knew that this was not their homeland and their land. They even knew that they would have to give these lands back in time."

Saying that he had visited Karabakh four times, Sultan Rayev noted that he was fascinated by the nature of Shusha: "In Shusha, I saw the statues of Bulbul, Uzeyir Hajibayli, and Natavan. If a person even shoots statues like that, there are no words to express this act. Thank God, justice found its place. So, this proves that their attempts to claim someone else's rights are futile, they have been defeated."
