The opening of the Zangazur Corridor is one of the most important features for the settlement of relations with Armenia and a peaceful solution, the former military attache of the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan, General Yucel Karauz told Report.
He said that the opening of the Zangazur Corridor was determined by the ninth article of the Trilateral Declaration signed on November 10, 2020. Karauz pointed out that the Zangazur Corridor will be the shortest road connecting Europe with Central Asia: "This corridor will connect Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan, Türkiye to Azerbaijan and the Turkic world by land. That is, it has a historical, economic, geopolitical significance."
Karauz said that the possibility of opening the corridor is very high: "I see a very high probability of the opening of the corridor. Azerbaijan has already completed 85% of the work assigned to it. It is very unlikely that the Zangazur Corridor will not be opened. If the Lachin Road is on the agenda, then the Zangazur Corridor will absolutely be opened, it is a red line. Russia also wants this to happen, because the realization of the activity of the corridor will connect Russia to Türkiye - Kars, Erzurum. This will have a positive impact on economic, cultural and social development in the region."
