"On the night of January 19-20, 1990, the Azerbaijani people in Baku showed heroism in the struggle for freedom and independence. The bloody January events foreshadowed the collapse of the Soviet Union," Turkish Ambassador to Georgia Fatma Ceren Yazgan said.
Report's Georgian bureau informs that, according to the ambassador, Azerbaijan's struggle for independence and territorial integrity, which began 32 years ago, ended with victory in the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020: "Turkey is proud of the will and victory of its Azerbaijani brothers. We honor the memory of all the martyrs of the Turkic people. It is important to remember their heroism every day. We bow to the memory of the martyrs and wish patience to their families."
