Participants of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council) will set up a common database and epidemiological monitoring system between countries in the fight against COVID-19.

The countries agreed on the issue at the first videoconference meeting of the Council's Health Coordination Committee, Uzbekistan's Foreign Ministry informs.

The parties decided to conduct online training for medical experts of member countries and observers with the participation of leading experts, a capacity-building program for medical workers, as well as international scientific and practical events via videoconference.

The participants also approved the structure of the Supply Chain Group, which will facilitate the coordination of activities for the supply of medical equipment, medicines, disposable products, investment in healthcare infrastructure, development of innovative IT systems, as well as the construction of new modern hospitals," Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

The Turkic Council was established in 2009 as an intergovernmental organization, with the overarching aim of promoting comprehensive cooperation among the Turkic Speaking States. Its four founding member states are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey. During the 7thSummit held in Baku in October 2019, Uzbekistan joined the Council as a full member. Hungary received observer status at the Turkic Council during its 6th Summit in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyz Republic, in September 2018.
