Inter-community dialogue should be organized to fight Islamophobia, Aydin Safikhanli, President of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum Taha Ayhan said at the international conference on "Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges", Report informs.
According to the organization's official, Islamophobia is both a difficult and an important topic: “Unfortunately, Islamophobia and racism are a growing phenomenon, mainly in European countries. Against the backlash of the rise of Islamophobia in Western countries, I would like to draw attention to the recent burning of the Koran in Sweden. This event was received very badly in many countries and led to the activation of several international mechanisms.”
According to him, an inter-community dialogue should be organized to fight Islamophobia: “People need to understand that Islamophobia is a form of xenophobia and xenophobia is a great crime against humanity.”
“I think that, along with the states, international organizations should give their support in the fight against Islamophobia,” Taha Ayhan stressed.
