Switzerland to finance several projects in Azerbaijan

A new Swiss cooperation program for the South Caucasus region has been launched this year, the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs told Report.

Under this program, which will last until 2025, Switzerland's support to Azerbaijan will focus on strengthening public financial management, further improving the business environment, expanding access to finance in the agricultural sector, and supporting women's economic empowerment.

“In addition to these thematic directions, Switzerland will continue to fund small initiatives of local NGOs on topics such as gender equality, environment, and climate change, inclusiveness, and digitalization,” the secretariat noted, adding that Switzerland also intends to finance a number of cultural projects in Azerbaijan within the framework of the regional program in the field of arts and culture.”

“Swiss-funded international cooperation projects have helped to facilitate access to finance for agricultural enterprises and improve macroeconomic forecasting capabilities in the relevant ministries,” the Swiss State Secretariat added.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland.
