Russian president's special representative: Delay in Status of Caspian Sea will aggravate environmental problems

Baku. 6 July. REPORT.AZ / The legal status of the Caspian Sea can be determined at the next meeting of the heads of state in Astana.

Report informs citing the TASS, Russian president's special representative for humanitarian cooperation with the Caspian countries Ramazan Abdulatipov has said.

According to R. Abdulatipov, without this document it is rather difficult to talk about active economic cooperation, "therefore, the Russian President Vladimir Putin has already agreed on a variant of proposals provided by the Russian government."

R. Abdulatipov believes that further delays in the issue of determining the status of the Caspian Sea will lead to aggravation of environmental problems.

"It will not be an exaggeration to say that the Caspian is on the brink of disaster in a number of directions, and the Tehran Convention on the preservation of the Caspian Sea, signed several years ago, is not efficient," he said.
