Georgian bureau of Report News Agency informs, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili said at the International Energy Forum 2016 in Tbilisi.
The forum discussed the implemented energy projects, energy security issues, regional security in the South Caucasus at a new geopolitical environment, and Georgia's role in these projects, the investment environment and so forth.
It was mentioned that projects implemented in the region with a joint participation of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey play an important role not only in energy security of these countrie, but also in Europe, Asia and the world in whole.
G.Kvirikashvili said that the basis of Georgia's energy map was laid by the "Great Silk Road" and energy project "Baku-Supsa pipeline," The 20th anniversary of which was celebrated a few days ago: "The basis of our development constituted by the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, Baku-Tbilisi Erzurum railway project, Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, commissioning of which is provided at the end of the year. The projects "Shah Deniz" and "South-Caucasus gas pipeline" will not only enhance our energy security, but also play an important role in improving the welfare of our peoples.
Noting the special role of Azerbaijan in the implementation of these projects, G.Kvirikashvili said: "Azerbaijan takes the firts place in energy supply of Georgia."
The Prime Minister emphasized the US role in the implementation of these projects and called the official Washington as one of the main strategic partners of Georgia.
The forum also touched the issues on accession of peace and stability in the South Caucasus.
The international event was attended by officials from the US, France, Turkey, Azerbaijan and other countries, representatives of the diplomatic corps, international experts.
