Prerequisites for demarcation and delimitation of Azerbaijan-Armenia border found - Putin

"Prerequisites for the demarcation and delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border have been found," President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, told journalists on Monday, Report informs with reference to TASS.

"For our part, we always welcome any efforts towards regulation. Therefore, as for how to coordinate the October 7 meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan and Armenia in Prague, it is naturally appropriate. And we support everything aimed at reducing and settling the conflict," Putin said.

"Regarding the peacekeepers, this was mentioned in our joint statement in November 2020, when the conflict ended. There is nothing to add here. We have talked about this (the extension of the mandate of the Russian peacekeepers in Karabakh-ed). This requires our joint agreement," he added.

According to him, the decision on the extension of the mandate of the Russian peacekeepers depends on other issues - the possible conclusion of the peace treaty and the delimitation and demarcation of the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia: "If these issues are resolved, then the issue of peacekeepers will be different. If it is not resolved or resolved to some extent, the fate of our peacekeeping contingent depends on it," the President said.

"Demarcation and delimitation of borders is a most important question. Indeed, we discussed it a lot today, and there have been certain prerequisites, [showing] that the path, in general, has been found," Putin said.
