PACE co-rapporteur calls on MEPs to visit Azerbaijan

Stefan Schennach, a co-rapporteur of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Azerbaijan, has called on the European Parliament members to visit Azerbaijan to better understand it.

Report's French bureau informs that the co-rapporteur was speaking at discussions on monitoring procedures at the organization's winter session.

It takes time to understand the ongoing processes in the countries, he said, adding that it is necessary to go and see the realities on the spot to understand.

He stressed that he had been the PACE co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan for many years and had visited Azerbaijan many times.

The PACE co-rapporteur underlined the need to increase the number of visits to help improve the processes in countries and bring about positive changes.
