New mandate of UN Secretary General enters into force

Baku. 1 January. REPORT.AZ/ Mandate of new Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Gutteres enters into force.

Report informs, former Prime Minister of Portugal and UN High Commissioner for Refugees was elected on October 13 last year, on December 12, he took the oath.

Another 9 candidates from different countries together with A. Guttereshfought for this post.

A.Gutteresh called the resolution of the conflict in Syria and Iraq, as well as the reform of the organization as priority of his activities.

Notably, A. Gutteresh will replace South Korean diplomat Ban Ki-moon.
