MP: New chapter opens in South Caucasus with Washington Summit

The summit held in Washington, D.C., between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan marks the opening of a new chapter in the South Caucasus region, Azerbaijani MP Tahir Mirkishili told Report.

According to him, the declaration signed between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the US capital, along with statements made by US President Donald Trump, fully align with Azerbaijan’s agenda for peace and development:

“Armenia’s acceptance of all Azerbaijani conditions, the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, the removal of territorial claims against Azerbaijan from Armenia’s constitution, the opening of the Zangazur Corridor, and the recognition by the global superpower—the United States—of the realities established by President Ilham Aliyev in the region are historic milestones.”

The MP also described the event as a defeat for all of Azerbaijan’s adversaries:

“The establishment of a strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States, the deepening of ties in energy, trade, and artificial intelligence, the repeal of Section 907, and agreements on defense cooperation were a nightmare come true for forces opposed to Azerbaijan. And now, a new chapter begins for our region. The one who opened and is writing this chapter is President Ilham Aliyev. In this chapter, the history of progress will be written by all who seek peace, prosperity, and development.”
