Markov: Iranian authorities involved in attack on Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran

The Iranian authorities are involved in an armed attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran, Russian political scientist, director of the Center for Political Studies Sergey Markov told Report's Russian bureau.

According to him, the constant anti-Azerbaijani campaign in the Iranian media is partly the guilt of the Iranian authorities.

He said the terrorist attack on the embassy indicates that the Iranian authorities are not able to protect the diplomatic missions in their country: "The attack on the Azerbaijani embassy casts a dark stain on the reputation of the Iranian authorities. It indicates that the Iranian authorities are not able to protect the diplomatic missions in their country, thereby very seriously discrediting themselves. In addition, in connection with the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy, many recall the seizure of the US embassy in Tehran. This is a shame for Iran, a very bad image for the country," the expert concluded.
