A peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia is only a matter of time, Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on International Affairs and leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), told Report.
“Sooner or later, a peace treaty will be signed. Of course, the sooner the better. There should be no delays – we must move forward on the path of progress in the interests of the peoples of the South Caucasus,” said the Russian parliamentarian.
Slutsky noted that the liberated territories of Azerbaijan are developing rapidly.
“I was recently in Shusha and landed at Fuzuli Airport. Every month, something new is being built in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur. All of this benefits this long-suffering land, whose liberation will forever go down in the history of Azerbaijan. Today, as we recall the recent heroism of the brave sons of the Azerbaijani people — whom their fathers and grandfathers, the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, would be proud of — we say: Karabakh is Azerbaijan,” the LDPR leader emphasized.
According to him, it is pointless for Armenia to hope for a revanche in Karabakh, as Azerbaijan remains the stronger party.
“This confrontation must end. The focus should be on building, not on ambitions,” Slutsky concluded.
