Korotchenko: No EU country can boast of such turnout as in Azerbaijan

No country of the European Union can boast of such a turnout for the presidential elections that was observed yesterday in Azerbaijan, political scientist Igor Korotchenko said at a press conference following the results of monitoring the presidential elections in Azerbaijan, according to Report.

"This is an indicator of the maturity of Azerbaijani civil society and the high responsibility of voters. The understanding that their votes, their contribution really determines the future of the country. Because the president is the personification of the state, and people went to vote for the candidate who, in the opinion of the Azerbaijani people, should lead the country forward," he said.

According to Korotchenko, Ilham Aliyev's victory was not just predetermined by popular support for his course. This result is due to the fact that his policy reflects national interests and is not subject to any external pressure.
