Joseph King: Threat of cultural heritage destruction must not be forgotten

Humanity must not forget about the existing threat of cultural heritage destruction, the Director of the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) Joseph King said at the international conference “Livable and Sustainable Heritage Cities” in Baku, Report informs.

“I often hear about the need to maintain a balance between cultural heritage and technological development. It's not about balance. The idea of combining heritage and development goes hand in hand. We must connect the past and the future,” he said.

King emphasized that preserving cultural heritage can be a solution to many problems.

“If we want to preserve cultural heritage, we need to work together with local people, interested parties and engineers,” he added.
