Jeyhun Bayramov comments on Iran-Azerbaijan relations

"For many years, one of the main priorities of Azerbaijan's foreign policy has been to establish and develop high-level friendly relations with all countries, including neighboring nations. Over the years, Azerbaijani-Iranian ties have developed in this direction. Numerous joint projects have been implemented between the two countries in recent years," said Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.

Report informs that, according to him, some factors caused dissatisfaction in relations between the two countries a few months ago:

"It was mainly due to the illegal entry of cars from Iran into the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan. We expressed our dissatisfaction with the Iranian side in this regard. Nevertheless, such cases were encountered. Later, during inspections in Azerbaijan, it was revealed that two drivers of Iranian companies entered our territory illegally. Those drivers were detained, and cars were confiscated. Later, our talks continued in various directions, including through diplomatic channels. I think that a positive result has been achieved in this direction. At the same time, the Azerbaijani side took a humane step and handed over the vehicles and drivers to the Iranian side. Azerbaijan has always been in favor of building and resolving all issues on the basis of dialogue, mutual respect, and non-interference in each other's internal affairs. I think that work in this direction will continue."
