Indonesian Ambassador: During my stay in Baku, I saw development of Azerbaijan

Baku. 28 January. REPORT.AZ/ " Azerbaijan located in a very important region, at the crossroads. During these four years of being here, I have learned a lot about this country."

Report was informed by Indonesian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Prayono Atiyanto who completed his diplomatic mission. However, he regretted the fact that over these years have not managed to organize Azerbaijani President's visit to Indonesia and vice versa. "It is very important for the development of relations. But the work in this direction is underway. It should be understood that the presidents are busy people, it is hard to find free time in the schedule. I hope that we can arrange a visit "this year.

Speaking about economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Indonesia, P. Atiyanto said that compared with the figure of 2 bln USD in 2014, last year the trade turnover amounted to just over 500 mln USD. We buy oil from Azerbaijan and export mainly palm oil and paper to Azerbaijan.Of course, due to fall in oil prices the trade turnover decreased."

Touching upon the cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, the ambassador reminded that Azerbaijan University of Languages was established by the Center for the Study of Indonesia, as well as Faculty of the Indonesian language, which annually produces 10 specialists of this language:"To date, 50 people graduated from the faculty. This is a contribution to the development of bilateral relations."
