The International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) delegation, split into two groups, monitored a total of 16 polling stations across various constituencies during Azerbaijan's snap parliamentary elections on September 1, Ibrahim Halil Korkmaz, the ICAPP representative and Deputy Chairman of Foreign Relations for Türkiye's ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), said, Report informs.
"Despite it being a Sunday and the hot weather, we observed a high voter turnout. All preparations regarding citizens' participation in the elections were carried out normally,” Korkmaz noted.
He added that the voting process was conducted productively in accordance with the Central Election Commission's procedures.
"ICAPP observers encountered no negative incidents during the voting period and performed their duties professionally," the official added.
Kormaz also pointed out that according to unofficial preliminary results, President Ilham Aliyev's New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) emerged as the winning party, securing 68 seats in the parliament.
“On behalf of ICAPP, we congratulate Azerbaijan for holding free, fair, and transparent parliamentary elections that concluded in line with procedures," he highlighted.
