Head of Georgian-Azerbaijani Interparliamentary Friendship Group creates new faction

Head of the Georgia-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary friendship group Zviad Dzidziguri plans to create a new faction in the legislative body, Report's Georgian bureau informs citing local press.

For this purpose, Dzidziguri is consulting with members of the parliament. According to local legislation, the participation of six deputies is required to create a faction.

Notably, Dzidziguri, who left the parliamentary majority, officially resigned from the post of deputy chairman of the parliament. This was due to the lack of support for the transition to a proportional electoral system on November 14.

Dzidziguri has been leading the Georgian-Azerbaijani inter-parliamentary friendship group since March 2017.
