German MP: Azerbaijan has a great role in ensuring European interests

"Not only now but ever since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Azerbaijan has been one of the countries attractive for Europe in terms of permanent partnership. The European Union, especially Germany, intend to continue developing comprehensive partnership with Azerbaijan on new stages in its foreign priorities," Marsel Luthe, MP from Berlin province of Germany, spokesman for the Free Democrats Party (FDP), told European Bureau of Report News Agency.

He said that necessary work should be done to promote Azerbaijan in the German society and much is yet to be done by the Azerbaijani lobby in this direction: "I think it can be solved in the near future. We are a democratic country and the influential view of the public is taken into account in every decision of the state," the MP said.

According to him, bilateral interest in the relations between Germany and Azerbaijan will soon give positive results in many areas.

EU needs a partner like Azerbaijan. At the same time, Azerbaijan, as a powerful exporter of energy, should introduce itself in Germany, as well as in Europe. Azerbaijan has a great role in ensuring Europe's interests ," Luthe said.
