Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan: I hope Turkmenistan will also join Turkic Council
Report / Elchin Murad

We attach great importance to the development of cooperation with all countries of the Turkic Council in a number of areas, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov said opening the 7th meeting of foreign ministers in Baku.

"On the organization’s agenda, the main task is to increase effectiveness of economic cooperation, consolidate joint efforts and mutual support, which is very important today," the Kyrgyz Foreign Minister said.

According to the minister, "it is also necessary to continue the efforts of the Turkic Council to obtain observer status in the UN General Assembly and OIC. In addition, it is important to strengthen cooperation with organizations such as TurkPA, TURKSOY and others. "

Aidarbekov also emphasized that the joint statement of the heads of state of the Turkic Council regarding the entry of Uzbekistan into the organization will be signed as part of the upcoming summit.

"I hope that our partner Turkmenistan will also follow the example of Uzbekistan and join the organization, which in turn will strengthen the image of the Council.

Today at a meeting of foreign ministers we will decide on granting Hungary an observer status in the Cultural Heritage Fund of the Turkic Council. Kyrgyzstan welcomes Hungary’s steps to integrate into the organization of the Turkic world," he concluded.
