Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Foreign Affairs Minister of Egypt, Badr Abdelatty, during the high-level week of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Report informs referring to Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting, Bayramov congratulated his Egyptian counterpart on his appointment as foreign minister and expressed confidence that this appointment would contribute to further deepening of Azerbaijani-Egyptian relations. It was emphasized that the constructive relations based on mutual respect and trust between Azerbaijan and Egypt have a long history.
It was noted that thanks to close contacts between the heads of state, it is possible to maintain and develop these relations. In this regard, the importance of the recent official visit of the president of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Egypt was highlighted as a significant step in developing bilateral ties and creating many opportunities for cooperation.
Gratitude was expressed for confirming Egypt's participation at the level of heads of state in the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29). It was emphasized that this event could create additional opportunities for cooperation in the field of green energy between Azerbaijan and Egypt.
Jeyhun Bayramov also informed his colleague about the current situation in the region in the post-conflict period and the progress of the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. During the meeting, views were also exchanged on other issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation of mutual interest.
