Expert: UN mission in Karabakh confirms Azerbaijan's committment to reintegration process

The UN mission's statement on the situation in Karabakh shows that Azerbaijan forms the foundation for the reintegration of the Armenians into the country's sociopolitical life, Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director of Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), told Report.

"The recent visit led by representatives of the United Nations mission, to the Karabakh region holds significant importance in assessing the situation. The team's first-hand observations of health and education facilities and the absence of significant damage to civilian infrastructure are noteworthy. The fact that the Azerbaijani government is providing essential social and health services is very important," he said.

The expert noted that Azerbaijan's determination to reintegrate Armenian residents as equal citizens is reinforced by its constitution, national legislation, and international commitments.

He noted that the international community should play a crucial role in condemning attempts led by Armenia to perpetuate ethnic and religious discrimination and bias against Azerbaijan, while also respecting Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

"The war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by Armenia must unequivocally receive condemnation, and the global community should actively endorse the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis who were forcibly expelled from Armenia," the political expert said.
