Expert: Azerbaijan is one of the important military - technical partners of Russia

Baku. 26 February. REPORT.AZ / “Azerbaijani army is one of the most advanced effective and combat-capable armies in the region," Russian military expert Igor Korotchenko said.

Report informs that he spoke at a press conference held on Azerbaijani - Russian relations.

He noted that today there is a very difficult military - political situation in the world.

"Azerbaijan is one of the important military - technical partners of Russia. This cooperation is not targeting anyone. It is aimed at strengthening the sovereignty and protection of Azerbaijan's independence," the expert said.

According to Korotchenko, the Caspian countries should ensure the security of the region themsselves. "There should be no external players in the Caspian region - neither US, nor UK, nor NATO. It is important for us that the Caspian remains a security zone. For this reason, we signed the Convention on the status of the Caspian sea," he concluded.
