Erdoğan leaves for Azerbaijan

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has left for Azerbaijan.

Report informs that before arriving in Baku, the head of state held a press conference at Ankara Esenboğa Airport, where he answered questions about the visit.

Erdogan will take part in the upcoming 7th summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council) in Baku. The President of Turkey will hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of the countries participating in the organization.

Erdogan's visit to Azerbaijan will end on October 15.

Notably, the summit is timed to the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Nakhchivan agreement (October 3, 2009) on the establishment of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (Turkic Council). The agreement was signed by the leaders of Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

An official decision on Uzbekistan's accession to the organization, as well as the signing of a number of documents, in particular, on the activities of the European Office of the Turkic Council in Budapest, are expected in the capital of Azerbaijan.

During the summit, first President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev will be awarded the title of Honorary Chairman of the Turkic Council.

On the sidelines of the summit, a decision will be made on establishing a Coordinating Committee of the Turkic Council, which will coordinate the activities of such structures as TurkPA, TURKSOY, Turkic Academy, Fund of Turkic Culture and Heritage, Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
