Baku. 26 October. REPORT.AZ/ Council of Europe and European Union to present results of projects for journalists, judiciary, administration and legal professionals in Azerbaijan.

Report informs, on Tuesday, October 31, the Council of Europe and European Union will present to the media in Baku the results of projects for Eastern Partnership countries, including Azerbaijan.

The four projects carried out in Azerbaijan under the Partnership for Good Governance in 2015-2017 focused on improving the situation with media freedom and freedom of expression, strengthening capacities to fight and prevent corruption in the public administration, increasing the role and capacity of the Academy of Justice, training judges, as well as conducting a specific project to improve the efficiency and quality of judicial services in Azerbaijan.

The 4.9 million euro projects have been funded by the EU and the Council of Europe, and implemented by the Council of Europe. In addition to these country-specific projects, Azerbaijan has also participated in 14 regional initiatives covering several countries.

Zoltan Hernyes, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Baku; Ambassador Kestutis Jankauskas, Head of European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan, Fakhraddin Ismayilov, Acting Head of Department on Democracy and Human Rights from Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Arkadi Sytine, EU/CoE Facilities Coordinator, Council of Europe (Strasbourg), will present the projects.
