British ambassador says he saw scale of destruction in Aghdam with his own eyes

The British Embassy considers the enhancement of women's rights and opportunities, as well as issues of gender equality, to be the main thing and is ready to continue cooperation with Azerbaijan in this regard, the UK's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Fergus Auld said in his speech at the international conference "Women for a Sustainable Tomorrow" held at the ADA University, Report informs.

The diplomat said the event will provide an opportunity to discuss the issues of women's participation in the process of establishing peace.

He noted that he saw the scale of the destruction in Aghdam with his own eyes, he saw the mined areas.

The ambassador said he was delighted that the UK has become the first partner of the Mine Action Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (ANAMA).

The ambassador pointed out that a group of women specialists will be established to help ANAMA in the demining process.
