Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stressed the importance of the entry into force of the Convention "On the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea" at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Caspian Countries in Moscow, Report informs, citing Azerbaijan’s MFA.
Noting that the current situation in the system of international relations confirms once again the importance of respecting the norms of international law, especially the principles of territorial integrity, sovereignty, and inviolability of borders, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the importance of being guided by the aforementioned principles, as well as existing practices in international law, within the framework of the Caspian region.
The minister also noted the importance of strengthening the existing legal framework between the Caspian littoral states for the joint use of the Caspian Sea for the purposes of peace, friendship, and solidarity, as well as the entry into force of the Convention "On the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea" as soon as possible.
