Azerbaijan and Guinea-Bissau are discussing the establishment of scholarship programs for students wishing to study at Azerbaijani universities, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press conference with his Guinea-Bissau counterpart Carlos Pinto Pereira in Baku, Report informs.
The minister emphasized that the authorized agencies of both countries will continue discussing this matter during the visit of the Guinea-Bissau Foreign Ministry delegation to Azerbaijan. Bayramov noted that educational cooperation between the countries has been successfully continuing for many years.
"This cooperation is quite fruitful; for example, four representatives of the delegation that arrived in Azerbaijan with Minister Carlos Pinto Pereira have graduated from Azerbaijani universities. Among them is also the minister of environment of Guinea-Bissau, who has graduated from the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University," said Bayramov.
Azerbaijan's foreign minister also emphasized that the two countries successfully cooperate within international organizations such as the UN, OIC, and the Non-Aligned Movement.
"During Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the NAM, Guinea-Bissau actively supported our initiatives, which allowed for further development of our bilateral relations. Overall, Azerbaijan's chairmanship in the NAM contributed to the development of relations with African countries," he said.
Bayramov added that the visit of Guinea-Bissau's president to Azerbaijan within the COP29 gave additional momentum to the development of cooperation.
