Baku hosts concert on 15th anniversary of EU Delegation in Azerbaijan

The 15th anniversary of the European Union (EU) Delegation was celebrated in the Baku International Mugam Center with a concert, Report informs.

In his welcoming speech, the EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Peter Michalko stated that the EU office in Azerbaijan is actively developing cooperation with state bodies, various institutions and other structures of the country. He also recalled numerous recent visits of high-ranking EU officials to Azerbaijan, namely the head of the European Council Charles Michel and the head of the European Commission Ursula Von Der Leyen.

"The EU is Azerbaijan's main trading partner, half of Azerbaijan's exports go to EU countries. A new memorandum on cooperation in the energy sector has taken our relations to a new level. Close cooperation has also been established in the field of green energy," he said.

Michalko also noted that negotiations with Azerbaijan on signing an aviation agreement are at the final stage.

He stressed that the EU is closely cooperating with Azerbaijan in clearing the liberated territories from mines and unexploded ordnance, assisting ANAMA – Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency.

"We are committed to the stability and prosperity of the South Caucasus region," he said.

The Ambassador added that to date, the EU has organized over 50 twinning projects in Azerbaijan.
