Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has addressed participants in the 6th annual conference of the Taihu World Cultural Forum in Bengbu, China.

Being the largest cultural event in China, the motto of this year's Taihu Forum, one of the world's most influential discussion platforms, is "Mutual Study of Civilizations: Building a Common Future for Mankind," Report informs.

Azerbaijan, for the first time in the history of the forum, is participating in the status of "Honorary Guest Country".

Azerbaijan, which has grown rapidly over recent years, is the first "Guest Country of Honor" of the Taihu Forum. In addition, the Heydar Aliyev Foundation is among the organizers of the Forum.

On October 12, Azerbaijani presidential aide Anar Alakbarov read out a video address of President Ilham Aliyev to the participants in the 6th annual conference of the Taihu World Cultural Forum at the opening ceremony.

"The prestige of this international event, held under the auspices of the People's Republic of China, is growing every year. Bringing together prominent politicians, scholars and creative intellectuals from around the world the Taihu World Cultural Forum makes a significant contribution to intercultural dialogue," says the message.

It is gratifying that the President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping has invited Azerbaijan as an honorary guest to this year's forum dedicated to the initiative 'Mutual Study of Civilizations: Building a Common Future for Mankind,' as well as the Heydar Aliyev Foundation as one of the main co-organizers.

In today's sensitive and turbulent world, there is a serious need to discuss the topic 'Mutual Study of Civilizations: Building a Common Future for Mankind.' In particular, the complex situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges facing humanity once again confirm the importance of dialogue and mutual support among civilizations.

Multiculturalism is one of the main priorities of state policy in Azerbaijan. It is one of the important values inherent in the lifestyle of the Azerbaijani people. That is why we consider it important to bring together representatives of different cultures and hold discussions on finding solutions to global problems, and we believe that these issues will be the focus of this year's Forum," President Ilham Aliyev said in his address.
