In recent days, Azerbaijani citizens, as well as those serving in the occupied territories, have become victims of landmines, and it is another manifestation of Armenia's terrorist policy, said MP Fatma Yildirim.
Report informs that according to her, the mine terror carried out by Armenia against Azerbaijan is not a new issue:
"The burying of mines and their use as a subject of political blackmail is an indication of terrorism. The events prove once again that mine terrorism is a new form of Armenian terrorism as a whole. It is unacceptable that Armenia ignores international law, humanitarian values, and human rights and still refuses to give all the mine maps. One of the main obstacles to the return of former IDPs, who have been displaced from their homes for 30 years and are a vulnerable segment of the population, is landmines."
Yildirim said that Armenia committed real vandalism in the Azerbaijani lands held under occupation for 30 years:
"The list of war crimes committed by Armenians is just endless. Mining areas is one of the main crimes. Although our lands were liberated as a result of the 44-day war, the destruction of Karabakh and the burial of mines by Armenia during the military occupation are major obstacles to the safe return of former IDPs to their homes. Armenia has provided our country with an inaccurate map of mined areas, and the accuracy of the maps is only 25%. They refuse to give an accurate map. Although the Armenian government admits that they have a precise map, the country does not provide it and makes it the subject of political blackmail. This is a clear example of state support for terrorism in Armenia."
"International organizations, parliaments of different countries, human rights organizations should not be indifferent to the brutal mine terror against Azerbaijan. They should call and put pressure on Armenia over this issue. Although many years have passed since the end of the war, many civilians have been killed by landmines. This proves once again that Armenia, defeated on the battlefield, continues the war against civilians. Therefore, the international community must put serious pressure on Armenia in this matter," Yildirim stressed.
