Azerbaijani ambassador meets with Kenya's environment and climate change minister

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Kenya, Sultan Hajiyev had a meeting with the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Forestry of Kenya, Aden Duale, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Nairobi said, Report informs.

Hajiyev spoke about the dynamic development of relations between Azerbaijan and Kenya and emphasized the potential in the fields of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

The ambassador emphasized Kenya's active participation in COP29, which Azerbaijan hosted last year. He noted that close coaction between Azerbaijan and Kenya within the framework of the 13th session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13) to be held in Azerbaijan in 2026, as well as World Environment Day (WED2026), can make a significant contribution to global cooperation.

Minister Duale expressed his satisfaction with the current state of relations between Kenya and Azerbaijan and noted the will between the parties to maximize the existing opportunities for expanding bilateral cooperation.

He emphasized that Azerbaijan successfully hosted COP29. He called the agreement on the mechanisms for the implementation of important articles of the Paris Agreement in the discussions held during the session under the leadership of Azerbaijan a historic event.

The minister said that the establishment of the COP Troika Presidencies format, which is one of the results of Azerbaijan's successful hosting of the COP, will elevate global climate discussions to the next level.
