Andreeva: UN to help Azerbaijan in demining, restoration of liberated lands

UN institutions will render assistance to Azerbaijan in the issues of restoration and demining of the liberated territories, Report informs, citing UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Vladanka Andreeva who spoke at an event in Shusha dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Azerbaijan's partnership with this organization.

"On March 2, 1992, Azerbaijan joined the UN and over the years we have been working to strengthen our cooperation. When we first opened our office in Baku, we helped refugees and internally displaced persons affected by the conflict," Vladanka Andreeva said.

The Resident Coordinator noted that on March 1, 2021, a Framework Cooperation Agreement was signed between the UN and Azerbaijan, which outlined the main tasks of cooperation for the next five years. These are issues of gender equality, the environment, inclusiveness, she added, noting active work in this direction.

Vladanka Andreeva also commended Azerbaijan's role in the Non-Aligned Movement and the country's efforts in the fight against the pandemic within this organization.
