Ambassador: Washington supports Brussels’ steps to normalize Baku-Yerevan relations

Washington supports Brussels’ assistance to the process of normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan, US Ambassador to Azerbaijan Earle Litzenberger said at a briefing, Report informs.

The US wants to see the South Caucasus region prosperous, he noted. It is also very important to open communications among all the countries of the region, the ambassador said.

He said that the visit of Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan - Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev to the US was very important. During it, the role played by the US in the settlement of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia was discussed, the ambassador added.

Hikmat Hajiyev visited the US this week, where he held a number of meetings with officials, including US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.
