Three Azerbaijani clubs postponed trips due to bad weather in Istanbul

Baku. 10 January. REPORT.AZ/ Trips of “Gabala”, “Sumgayit” and “Inter” football clubs who scheduled winter training camps in Antalya region of Turkey have been delayed. 

Report informs, the reason is adverse weather conditions in Istanbul.

Baku-Istanbul flights of teams planning to travel with Turkish Airlines (THY) have been postponed to unknown time.

“Inter” and “Sumgayit” weren’t able to leave the country today morning as scheduled. Both clubs are waiting from reply from airlines company. Baku club will hold training today at “Inter Arena”.

“Gabala” club scheduled to travel yesterday. Its departure was rescheduled to evening due to adverse weather conditions. But “Gabala” again returned from Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The club decided to fly directly to Antalya on January 11.

Notably, THY canceled 989 flights since January 4 due to adverse weather condition in Istanbul. Yesterday the number of canceled flights reached 1400. The airlines company canceled 121 more flights today. 15 thousand passengers have been accommodated in hotels, 40 thousand passengers were provided with necessary food due to cancelation of flights. The company suffered 100 million TRY (approximately 28 thousand USD) loss during 4 days. Many planes of the company, who canceled all flights since midnight, had to land in other airports.
