Saudi Arabia eager to face Azerbaijan at World Cup

Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia may play a friendly match this year, Report quotes Ambassador Hamad bin Abdullah bin Saud bin Khudair as saying.

According to him, Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan enjoy close cooperation in sports, like in all other areas. In this regard, the Ambassador highly appreciated the relationship between the Saudi Arabian Football Federation and the AFFA.

He said that they also wanted to play the Azerbaijani team at the World Cup. 

"I follow the matches of your national team. I can say that the Azerbaijan national team had a better performance 4-5 years ago. Saudi Arabia is also one of the strongest teams in Asia and has competed in the World Cup five times so far. I hope your team will qualify for the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 and we will compete there."
