Press: Lionel Messi freezes Barcelona contract

Barcelona captain Lionel Messi is reportedly planning to leave Barcelona at the end of the 2020/21 season, Report says, citing Manu Carreño radio station.

The contract talks between Messi and Barcelona looked all promising over the past few weeks, but the club's current sporting status has made Messi ponder his future with them.

Over the past few months, Messi has had several issues with the club management - be it with president Josep Maria Bartomeu, the coaching staff, the treatment of players by board members, or merely on-field performance.

The 33-year-old is said to have informed his closed ones that he is grown increasingly frustrated at the club. Having pointed out that the club needs to invest rightly to fight for the European championship again, Messi isn't happy with where Barcelona is as a team. 

On Wednesday night, the 33-year-old netted his 700th goal for the Spanish giants in their draw with Atletico Madrid in LaLiga as they bid to defend their title from arch-rivals Real Madrid.
