Norwegian athletes may be excluded from prestigious international competitions, Report informs, citing NRK.
This is because the country's Anti-Doping Agency does not fulfill its obligations under the international anti-doping code.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is dissatisfied with the law on doping testing of minor athletes aged 15-18 in Norway. They cannot be tested without their parents' consent. In the past two years, no minor has failed a test without being notified of a visit by a doping officer.
According to WADA legislation, any doping test must be conducted without notice, and the list of exceptions is limited.
According to the lawsuit, WADA's initial sanctions against Norway could be in the form of a fine or the country's inability to hold office in the organization.
However, it is not excluded that in 2023, the WADA may impose sanctions on all sports in Norway due to non-compliance with the rules. The Scandinavian country may be banned from participating in the Olympic Games, World Championships, and European Championships, as well as holding those competitions.
