Mesut Ozil voted Germany's player of the year 2015

Arsenal's Mesut Ozil has been named Germany's player of the year for 2015, beating Bayern Munich superstar Thomas Muller to the award.

Report informs, The Guardian reported the attacking midfielder has been given the accolade after his excellent performances for the Germany national team during the year.

Ozil earned 51,000 votes, representing 45.9 per cent of Germany supporters, to take the trophy, which was won by Real Madrid's ToniKroos last year.

The Germany national team's official Twitter feed congratulated the player on his award. 

Cologne’s Jonas Hector finished third behind Ozil and Muller, as the Arsenal player took the honour. The Gunners midfielder ran 92.17 km for the national team in 2015, creating six assists in the calendar year.

It is the fourth time Ozil has claimed the award for his country.
