Qarabag's head coach comments on creating single Championship for post-Soviet countries

Qarabag's head coach, a member of the Executive Committee of AFFA Gurban Gurbanov spoke about the idea of creating a single championship of post-Soviet countries.

Report informs that a 48-year-old specialist called these ideas unrealistic.

"I would not want to serve anyone," Gurbanov said. Instead, he asked everyone to focus on Azerbaijani football: "If Azerbaijani football receives financial assistance, we can increase the number of clubs and attract more professional players to come. We can also bring our Championships to the level of 5-7 years ago. There is the Championship under the auspices of the CIS today. But it does not mean that I will exist forever. We should hope for ourselves."

According to the head coach, instead of playing under someone's flag, it is necessary to raise the level of domestic Championships: "Let them say that it is better to play in the Championship of Azerbaijan. There are proposals to play in the Championships of Georgia, Turkey, and Russia to improve the quality of players. But I think if we focus on the local league and our players, we can achieve better results."
