Baku. 5 March. REPORT.AZ/ "Azerbaijan is a rapidly growing country that achieves a great development," head coach of Napoli FC Carlo Ancelotti said commenting on the final match of the Europa League to be held in Baku. The 60-year-old specialist noted that previously it was not he, but his assistant in Azerbaijan. "In 1995, we were going to face Poland's Vidzev within the Champions League match. We sent our collaborator to observe our potential rival."
In fact, the match that the famous coach spoke about was held on July 23, 1997. Neftchi was the first team which played Vidzev in the first qualifying round of the Champions League. Azerbaijan's representative lost the game with 0: 2 in Baku and 0:8 in Lodz, so it dropped out of the contest. At the next stage Vidzev encountered Parma led by Ancelotti at that time. The Italian team scored 4:0 in the home match, and 3:1 in away match and qualified for the third qualifying round of the Champions League.
At present, Napoli continues its struggle in the Europa League. Napoli FC will play the home match in the 1/8 finals on March 7 with the Austrian Zaltsburg, and away match on March 14.
