World Bank ready to share experience with Azerbaijan

The Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with a delegation led by the World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus Sebastian Molineus in a video conference, the ministry's press service told Report.

Congratulating the World Bank Country Manager for the South Caucasus Sarah Michael on her new appointment, the Minister of Economy expressed confidence in cooperation. Our country attaches great importance to relations with the World Bank. At present, four loan and 18 technical assistance projects of the World Bank are being implemented in Azerbaijan. World Bank's support to minimize the socio-economic impact of the pandemic is highly appreciated. During a meeting between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde in July this year, they discussed expanding cooperation in several areas.

Sharing his views on the country's development priorities for the short and medium-term, Jabbarov spoke about economic reforms and structural changes, economic diversification, development of the non-oil sector, and measures to increase competitiveness.

According to Molineus, the Bank supports Azerbaijan reforms and is ready to share its experience in many areas.
